Are Your Servants Too Well Paid?

These days, people are usually too busy to take care of their own household chores. Servants work wonderfully to make sure that your house stays clean, and you can still take care of everything that you need to. How much is too much for them to make though? While everyone’s opinion varies, there are multiple factors that go into how much your servant or maid should be paid.

After a long day at work, you realize that the dishes that were supposedly cleaned by your servant are still partially dirty. Their job is to make sure everything is clean and sanitary. Usually your maid is very good about cleaning though, so what gives? Have you looked recently at how much he/she is making? If your servant begins to realize that they can slack off and still make good money, they’ll do it. They’re only human after all. If you were given the chance to be able to work less for a better paycheck, wouldn’t you?

Another factor to look at is how much does your servant really do? Do they babysit, clean, take care of laundry, run errands, etc? Not only can you over pay a maid, but it is possible to underpay. If you underpay him/her, they will resent you. This could lead to laziness and them not caring if what you need done gets completed. However, again, if you over pay them then they will begin to believe they can cut corners.

In order to figure out what your servant should make, do a bit of internet research. Check around to see how much professional cleaners and babysitters make, and combine those costs as you feel comfortable if they are doing all these tasks. Do not ignore your gut on this either. In order for everyone to be happy, you have to be content with how much you are offering.
